[SPIED] 2022 Corvette Z06 with a Rear Wing and Undisguised Wheels Testing at Grattan Raceway

Oh, look..the leaves are beginning to change in Michigan!

That’s not all that’s changing!

Thanks to a reader who wishes to remain anonymous, we have a new spy photo of the 2022 Corvette Z06 which was being tested by Corvette engineers today out at Grattan Raceway, located northeast of Grand Rapids in Belding, MI.

Click here to see a larger version of this Corvette Z06 spy pic.

The single photo shows a lightly camouflaged C8 Z06 prototype wearing a uniquely-shaped rear wing and it’s being driven without the wheel covers in place which gives us a great first look at the wheel design.

We also note that the front corner of the car is showing what looks to be aerodynamic wickers or dive planes as well!

Regarding those undisguised wheels, we have always believed that the covers where in place when the cars are on public roads to hide the details of the brakes more than to hide the design of the wheels. We are expecting to see various brake systems from Brembo ranging from the steel rotors to the high-end carbon ceramic rotors found on the previous generation’s Z06 and ZR1 models.

The 2022 Corvette Z06 is rumored to be powered by the LT6 flat-plane-crank V8 that is currently powering the Corvette C8.R race cars. The engine has been rumored to produce somewhere around 650 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque from the naturally-aspirated 5.5L 32-valve DOHC engine.

We’ve noticed an uptick in the number of sightings of the next-generation Corvette Z06 over the last few weeks which we take as a good sign that development is progressing. If the car is indeed a 2022 model, then it will most likely be revealed sometime in the spring of 2021.

  1. I really like that rear wing! Not overly anxious when it is revealed. Just bought a brand spanking new 2019 Z06 a few months ago.
