Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin had some things to say about the 2020 Corvette Stingray after seeing it again during last weekend’s IMSA race at Laguna Seca.

The Zeus Bronze 2020 Corvette Stingray was positioned in front of the Corvette Corral when the Corvette Racing veteran captured this photo.

Oliver is a Chevrolet Brand Ambassador in Europe and while we expect him to say good things about the car, he was very complimentary about it and actually shared the news that he has driven the next generation Corvette at the Nurburgring!

Oliver’s Instagram post (@olivergavin) said the following:

Lines.
Looks.
Performance.
2020 Stingray Mid Engine Corvette.
Drove one at the #nurburgring – it was mega, so dynamic and precise.
495bhp with the mid engine layout, fantastic traction.
The focus is very much on the driver, the vision, cockpit layout, dash and display. Loved it.

When you think about it, Oliver spends a lot of time driving very different Corvettes so his opinion matters. His personal ride back in England is a C7 Corvette Z06 and his office is the cockpit of the C7.R race car.

Corvette Racing’s C8.R was first spotted over a year ago now and we know that Oliver has participated in testing the new Corvette race car. His perspective on 2020 Corvette Stingray after testing the street car at the Nurburgring of all places comes to us as validation that Chevrolet has done the C8 right.

As members of the Corvette team have stated, the best thing about the C8 is driving it.

We can’t wait!

  1. What were the Nur times? CEO Barra had them put on the side of the car in NY – 7.18.19 !!! On stock tires and tune.

I saw this Bronze/Tan C8 at Laguna Seca. On each side of the corral were other brands. The C8 made the NSX’s look like a lot of money for nuttin’, the C8 made the BMW’s look like classics from the previous century, and the C8 made the Porsche’s look scared…
