1967 Corvette Restomod Convertible Up for Grabs at Mecum Indy

Dana Mecum’s 32nd Spring Classic auction takes place this week at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Roughly 2,000 collector cars are expected to be offered. Of those, 188 (or roughly 20%), are Corvettes.

While perusing the seven generations of cars for sale this weekend we came across this stunning 1967 restomod convertible crossing the block on Saturday, May 18th. The fresh build was completed earlier this year.

The car is powered by a 500hp LS3 crate motor. Air enters through a high-flow air filter and a Velocity intake. It exits via custom-fabricated stainless-steel headers and traditional side exhaust. Overall, the engine compartment is finished in copious amounts of polished aluminum. A 5-speed transmission transmits power to the big meats out back mounted between the rear fenders.

The body sits on a custom chassis with C7 Technologies aluminum suspension with drilled and slotted brakes. Calipers are painted bright red. The body wears PPG Pearlescent dark blue paint while red pin stripes flank the silver-gray stinger hood stripe. The auction listing doesn’t mention tire sizes, but they’re big. Big and wide. A black vinyl hardtop completes the exterior look.

Inside we see a cool gray colored distressed leather interior. Carbon fiber accents can be seen throughout including on the seats and door panels. Dakota Digital gauges monitor the car’s vital signs. Tinted windows and vintage air conditioning keep the driver cool while they take advantage of the Bluetooth audio.

This mean looking C2 combines the best of Corvette’s second generation with the will all the modern amenities we’ve come to love in recent years. Mecum has a pre-auction estimate of $225,000 – $250,000 on this beauty. Based on recent trends and the growing popularity of the restomod segment we think those number may not be all that far off, even for auction house numbers. This car has a whole lot of eyeball which should get bidders fired up when it rolls across the Mecum red carpet on Saturday.

  1. Looks nice, great powertrain…BUT those wheels are way to big in diameter. Anything much over a 17″
wheel, just doesn’t look right on a C2 Corvette
