Official: Introducing the 2019 Corvette Grand Sport Drivers Series

For the first time in Corvette history, Chevrolet will honor the four current individual drivers of the Corvette Racing team with their own special edition called the Corvette Drivers Series.

The four longtime drivers for Corvette Racing who are Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen, Tommy Milner, and Antonio Garcia, helped introduced their new 2019 Corvette Grand Sports today in the infield of Daytona International Speedway at the Chevrolet Experience Center on the eve of the 2019 Rolex 24.

The exterior colors and graphics for each of the Drivers Series Corvettes were created with the input from each of the drivers who worked with Chevrolet designers to come up with their own unique appearance package for the Corvette Grand Sport.

“The Corvette Drivers Series celebrates Corvette Racing’s winning legacy, which is driven by a world-class team of drivers from around the globe,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing. “Each driver worked with Chevrolet designers on the graphics for their respective edition, giving the cars distinctly personalized appearances.”

“Customers can select the version of their favorite Corvette Racing driver or simply choose the one with the color and graphics that appeals the most to them,” said Majoros. “And like the drivers they represent, each special edition is a winner.”

And speaking of winning, Corvette Racing has won 99 races in IMSA competition since 1999. That’s the most of any professional sports car racing team based in North America.

Like the Corvette C7.Rs, the Corvette Grand Sports feature a naturally aspirated V8-engine. The Grand Sports 6.2 liter LT1 is rated at 460 hp and like the C7.Rs, it also features a dry-sump oiling system designed for high-performance track driving.

  1. It’s good to see Chevrolet honor the Corvette Racing Team drivers that have performed so well and vanquished all of the world’s best sports racing cars. Since there is no mention of these special editions being produced in a limited number, at the end of the sales year it will be interesting to see which driver special edition was the most popular. Regardless, like the press release said, “They are all winners”. BRAVISSIMO, Chevrolet!

  2. Does “available this spring” mean that 2019 C7 production is now extending past March?
