Maybe it’s because I’m loved Corvettes for more than 50 years, but I hate the stereotypical image of the Corvette driver as either someone wearing gold chains and Hawaiian shirts or a middle-aged man having a midlife crisis.

Unfortunately, a robbery in Southwest Miami-Dade, Fla., this week did nothing to erase at least half of those old stereotypes.

It seems two guys posing as police officers pulled over a guy driving his red C7 Corvette coupe and demanded his gold chain, gold ring, and about $2,000 in cash.

Police say the two suspects were driving a black Dodge Charger and managed to get the Corvette driver to pull over thanks to their flashing strobe lights, not to mention once they walked up to his window, flashing a gun and stunning their victim with a Taser.

The robbery occurred late Monday night near Southwest 45th Street and 123rd Avenue.

Afterwards, the duo ran back to their Charger and drove away with their ill-gotten loot.

Now police are hoping for your help to catch the two men who remain at large. You can remain anonymous and receive a $1,000 reward if you help apprehend the suspects by calling Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
