Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Celebrates its 10th Anniversary this Weekend in Chicago

Before you start defrosting that turkey and prepping for Thanksgiving dinner you best find your way to Chicago for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN).

As you know, we’re big fans of this show not just for the phenomenal Corvettes, but also for the amazing cross-section of muscle cars they assemble each year. Remember the 27 hemi E—body convertibles a few years ago? This year’s 10th Anniversary show takes place Saturday and Sunday, November 17th and 18th at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.

The invitational displays anchor the show each year and 2018 is no different. This year’s gatherings include a Mopar Rapid Transit System Caravan Cars Special Display in addition to an Oldsmobile W-31 collection. Our friends over at NCM Insurance are presenting the class of 1968 Invitational featuring the best of the best cars built that year. Additional 1968 displays will include a salute to the first-year Hurst/Olds plus Hurst Hemi Darts and Barracudas in addition to Chevy II’s. Don’t forget the special Buick GSX display.

If that’s not enough for you, 18 premiere unveilings will take place throughout Saturday morning revealing cars not yet shown since completion. Elsewhere you can ogle all the chrome and horsepower in the Pure Stock Muscle Drags, Studebaker Legends, and the Mustang and Shelby Pinnacle display and completion.

But what about Corvettes you ask? Come see the high horsepower collection of Zora’s offspring in the Corvette Legends display. Expect to see the best L88’s and Corvette racers around. Your author will be competing for Concourse Gold and Triple Diamond honors in Corvette Central’s Triple Diamond competition. If you’re at MCACN this weekend swing by my 1972 Corvette and say hello! Look for judging in a future edition of On the Campaign Trail.

Celebrity appearances this year include TV personality Dennis Pittsenbarger, former Berger Chevrolet Performance Manager Jim Luikins, Pontiac guru Jim Mattison, and noted customizer Chuck Miller.

We didn’t even mention the book signing, swap meet, vendors, cars for sale, band, kids’ activities, live music, and informational seminars. You can get all the dirty details on the MCACN website. The 2018 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois this Saturday and Sunday November 17th – 18th. The show is open 9am-8pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday. Presale tickets are $25 or $30 at the door. Sunday is Military Appreciation Day and all military members showing their military card at the Will Call table get in free. Kids 12 and under always get in free.
