Following the official Le Mans test session earlier this month, Corvette Racing finished 10th and 11th in a crowded field of 17 cars in the GTE-Pro class. At the time of the test, the Balance of Performance charts specified the Corvette C7.Rs weight at 1244 kg, two 29.5mm air restrictors, and 96 liters of fuel capacity.

Now that the FIA and ACO have had an opportunity to analyze the data from the test, they have handed down changes in Balance of Performance to five of the six manufacturers in GTE-Pro including Corvette Racing.

The news isn’t quite clear exactly the impact is for the Corvettes. The C7.Rs will be 10kg heavier (1254 kg) when they start the first practice session on Wednesday. However, Sportscar365.com says “this number has been offset by the team running heavier cars at the test.” I guess the key question is how much did the car weight at the test?

Other changes in GTE-Pro see the Aston Martin Vantage GTEs getting a boost increase. That move was expected after last year’s winning team ran the slowest times during the test and were nearly five seconds off the leading Porsches. Ferrari’s 488 GTE and the BMW M8 GTE also received minor boost increases but BMW was also handed a 13kg weight increase.

The Ford GTs will have their boosts lowered slightly, but also get a 13kg sandbag weight reduction.

Changes to fuel capacities were also made. Aston Martin gains 4 liters, BWM loses 4 liters, and Ford loses 2 liters. The maximum fuel stint length of 14 laps for all GTE-Pro cars still applies.

No changes were made to the Porsche 911 RSR. The team’s two cars were the fastest in GTE-Pro during the test.

We have seen the FIA and ACO make changes to BoP leading up to the race in the past, so there is always a chance that further updates will be made.
