[VIDEO] Woman in C6 Corvette Leads Police on High-Speed Chase

The driver of this blue C6 Corvette coupe may be singing the blues herself today in the aftermath of a rush-hour chase in Santa Ana, California early Monday evening.

No doubt the 47-year-old female driver faces multiple charges after leading the California Highway Patrol on a chase that began on the 55 Freeway in Orange County when she was clocked by authorities doing more than 100 mph in the carpool lane.

At first, it appeared to be a routine traffic stop, however, as she slowed down and moved to the right but then as lawmen got closer, she suddenly sped off and passed other vehicles in the center divider. She kept going on the freeway until reaching Edinger Avenue, where she exited the 55. The chase came to a crashing finale around 4:30 p.m. when she plowed into the front of a white car that had pulled out from the auto mall at Edinger at Auto Mall Drive.

Even after the crash, the Corvette driver refused to exit her vehicle, facing the wrong way in the No. 1 lane of eastbound Edinger Avenue. Photos show lawmen pointing their guns toward the woman.

The hour-long standoff – during which nearly a dozen CHP vehicles were stopped in both sides of the road and traffic going westbound ground to a halt at the Auto Mall Drive signal – finally ended when two armored SWAT vehicles pulled up and boxed in the Corvette from the front and back.

The woman can then be seen in these photos, finally falling out of the Corvette onto the ground and being apprehended by officers before being loaded into an ambulance for treatment at a local hospital. No weapons or other passengers were found in the Corvette.

The driver of the other car – which suffered heavy damage to the front end – is expected to be OK, according to news reports.
