Our friends at Mid America Motorworks are getting ready to throw the world’s largest Corvette party and you’re invited! Corvette Funfest 2016 kicks off this Thursday at Mid America’s headquarters in Effingham, ILL and runs through Sunday, September 18th.
The theme for the 23rd annual Corvette Funfest is “Corvette Evolution” and will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the C5 Corvette’s introduction. Also on the celebritory docket is the official 20th Anniversary Celebration of the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport hosted by the Grand Sport Registry.
There is always a lot to do at Corvette Funfest. This year the World’s Largest Corvette Party features a 500+ Corvette Fun Run through the area before arriving in downtown Effingham for the official Downtown WelcomeFest Party on Thursday evening. All day Friday and Saturday there are seminars by experts on a variety of Corvette-related topics. You can get your aftermarket parts installed in the Install Dome or wander acres of Corvettes arrayed on the Funfest Show Field.
There is also plenty of entertainment including Saturday’s Corvette Fashion Show, celebrity autographs, a Hardees Thickburger Eating contest or a self guided tour through Mike Yager’s MY Garage Museum. Music will be provided by local artist Cheyenne Goss ahead of the main Saturday night concert with Dennis DeYoung and the Music of STYX.
