We searched high and low on the Web for a photo of David Cassidy with his 2009 Corvette but had to settle for this pic of the former teen idol sitting on the hood of a white early 1970s Corvette.
Cassidy is in the news, not for a long-awaited album for his teeny-bopper fans (now in their 50s and 60s, by the way), but because he’s having to sell his 2009 Corvette to pay down some debts.
Apparently, times have been tough lately for Cassidy, who filed bankruptcy last year and had to sell his waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale for $2 million after getting permission from the court.
Now he’s waiting for a judge’s approval to allow the sale of his 2009 Corvette for $27,500. (We don’t know what model it is – but if it’s a Z06 or ZR1, it could be an especially great bargain for someone.)
We loved The Partridge Family (we saw it when it first aired – not in the multitude of reruns since) back then, and we hate to see David Cassidy fall on hard times.
Despite selling 30 million records during his career, he had to file for bankruptcy protection on Feb. 11, 2015, allegedly owing hundreds of thousands of dollars to several creditors, including $292,598 to Wells Fargo, $21,952 to American Express, and $17,150 to Citi.
He has battled substance abuse for years, charged with DUI in November 2010 and again in August 2013 and January 2014. For the last offense, a judge slapped him with a sentence of three months of rehab and five years of probation for drunken driving.
As if that weren’t enough, his wife, Sue Cassidy, to whom he had been married for 23 years, asked for a divorce shortly after his third DUI arrest, too.
Now he’s losing his Corvette, too. What more can happen to a man!
Not exactly the way the 65-year-old entertainer envisioned his golden years, we’re sure.
