Kickstart My Heart! Vince Neil's 1961 Corvette Headed to McCormick's Palm Springs Auction


America has a celebrity-driven culture, so some enthusiast will like the idea of owning a 1961 Corvette previously owned by Motley Crue singer Vince Neil.

Vince Neil’s 1961 Corvette will be one of the selections available at McCormick’s Palm Springs collector car auction, marking its 30th anniversary Feb. 26-28 with a move to the Palm Springs convention center. That’ll be convenient for McCormick, whose showroom offices are just a quarter mile away.

The new owner will get a copy of the title in Vince’s name.

As for details about the Jewel Blue Corvette, it has just been mechanically refreshed with the matching numbers fuel injected engine completely rebuilt to original specs except for a 30/1000 bore because of wear. It has the correct bell housing and water pump pulley and a rebuilt generator and starter. Also checked and replaced are components like the rear-wheel bearings, shocks, brake shoes, and resurfaced drums.

It has new side stainless molding, new aluminized high performance mufflers, 1990s Goodyear bias ply wide white wall tires, correct radio antenna, Wonder Bar radio rebuilt by Tony Cerasin, a new clock, front bearings examined and re-packed, and new voltage regulator.

Other noteworthy cars at the upcoming auction include a 1962 Porsche 356 S90, a 1963 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL roadster, and a 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville.
