Here’s your chance to own a true piece of Corvette history, but you’d better act quickly.
Bidding on the last 1975 Corvette convertible produced by Chevrolet ends Thursday at 12:57 pm ET.
No one has bid on the car as of 1pm Eastern Time on Feb. 11th, but you can lock it up at the “Buy It Now” price of $85,000.
It would be nice if someone would buy this car and donate it to the National Corvette Museum, preserving this historic car forever.
As you might expect, based on the fact that the first 300 Corvettes were white on red, this 1975 model continues that color theme.
Amazingly, previous owners have covered just 2,935 miles over the past 40 years, and the car will come with extensive documentation, including newspaper coverage of the first owner taking delivery in St. Louis.
As you might expect from such low miles, the seller says “the body is totally solid, straight and free of any previous damage. All panel gaps, shut lines, etc., look excellent. Very original car and a true survivor car.”
The seller also says the interior is 100 percent original and looks “perfect … like sitting in a brand new 75 Corvette.”
Everything still works in the car, including the lights, gauges, and signals.
Of course, the original 350 motor is still under the hood, “and the motor compartment … is extremely clean and … shows very well.”
The seller says the car drives straight and “feels nice and tight going down the road. Runs, drives and handles excellent!”
Perhaps the most interesting thing about this most unusual car, though, is the lawsuit that the owner in 1986 filed against General Motors when the 1986 Corvette convertible came out, claiming that GM had said in 1975 that his ’75 would be the last Corvette convertible ever made. The car comes with two binders full of documentation, including all the details of the lawsuit.

If someone did donate this car to the NCM, it wouldn’t be the first time it has been there. It’s already been displayed there and also has a Bloomington Gold award, too.
