This is a blog post that has nearly been written three times since the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship began last year, and after Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen, I’ve decided not to hold back my feelings for how I believe Corvette Racing/Team Chevy PR is undermining its core fan base in support of the Corvette Daytona Prototypes.

As Dennis Miller says, “I don’t want to go on a rant, but…”

This has been a magical year for Corvette Racing and the C7.R.

First they opened the season with a win at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and then followed that up with a win at the Twelve Hours of Sebring. Then it’s off to France for Corvette Racing’s most important race of the year. And when the odds looked stacked against them after losing the No.63 Corvette in a qualifying accident, the No.64 Corvette with drivers Gavin, Milner and Taylor stepped up and ran about the cleanest 24 hour race ever to win the GTE-Pro class at the 24 Hours at Le Mans.

When Jan Magnussen’s throttle stuck on the Porsche Curves at Le Mans last Thursday sending his No.63 Corvette C7.R into the wall, the resulting damage was significant enough to cause Corvette Racing to withdraw the car from race at Le Mans. Now we are learning that the Corvette won’t be ready for the upcoming TUDOR race at Watkins Glen later this month either.

The good news is that Larbre Competition will be loaning Corvette Racing their C7.R for the six hour race on June 28th.
