If you’re looking for something a little unusual in the Corvette world, and you are handy with tools and know how to work with fiberglass, eBay may have your ideal car. It has a ’62 Corvette frame, a 350 cubic inch motor and a Muncie three-speed transmission. The body is a Centurion made by Fiberfab and if the shape of the body looks familiar to you, it should—it is a copy of Bill Mitchell’s 1959 Sting Ray racer.
This week in New York City, RM Auctions in association with Sotheby’s is presenting the Art of the Automobile exhibition and sale. From horse-drawn carriages to the world’s fastest car, the auction highlights the very best machines from their respective eras.
Representing Chevrolet at the event is Zora Arkus-Duntov’s second Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle which today is known simply as CERV II.
Kevin Mackay is well known within the Corvette hobby for his ability to seek and find rare historical Corvettes and then restore them to like new condition. Although best known for finding the 1960 Briggs Cunningham Corvette that won its class in the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans, he also found the ‘Rebel’ L88 Corvette racer that will be sold at Barrett-jackson early next year.
During Bloomington Gold, Mackay had three of his see-thru Corvette creations on display. The 1969 L88 and the 1965 Big Block have all been featured before and we also see the XP-819 rear engine concept owned by Mike Yager of Mid America Motorworks.

Chevrolet this week showed 2 other concept Corvette Stingrays at SEMA in Las Vegas. In addition to the Gran Turismo Corvette Stingray Concept we showed you Tuesday, they also showed off the Atlantic and Pacific concepts as well. Chevrolet unveiled three unique Concept Corvette Stingrays this week at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Fans of the Gran Turismo racing game franchise will be excited to know that the 2014 Corvette Stingray will be one of the rides available in the upcoming version 6 of the game. To commemorate the occasion, Chevrolet built a life size version specifically for SEMA dubbed the Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo concept.
On the eve of the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas and hours before they are officially revealed in person at this evening’s Media reception (which will be live streamed starting at 7:25 pm PT), Chevrolet is showing off its performance car portfolio consisting of Corvettes, Camaros and the new Chevy SS Performance Sedan.
There are three Corvette Stingray Concepts being shown at SEMA, two Stingray Coupes and a Convertible. Chevy is calling two of the Corvette Stingrays the Atlantic and Pacific Concepts. The third Stingray is the real life version of a Corvette that can be seen and driven in the upcoming Play Station 3 game Gran Turismo 6, which commemorates the games 15th anniversary.
With the base Corvette Stingray already unveiled to the world months ago, everyone is now eagerly waiting to see what Chevy does with the higher-performance models like the Z06 and ZR1.
