Meet Tom Norkiewicz, a GM Test Engineer who’s done this a time or two over the past 22 years. He’s picked up some crafty maneuvers along the way, all while seeing what a car’s made of. In this instance, it’s the Corvette – it’s safe to say he’s being thorough in his evaluations. At GM’s Desert Proving Ground in Yuma, AZ, it’s just another day on the job.
Sunday was the 5th Annual Corvettes for Chip show in honor of the late Chip Miller. The beautiful blue sky and 59 degree weather guaranteed a great turnout for the show which also serves as a Amyloidosis research fundraiser for the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. The show was held in West Chester, PA at the very scenic Brandywine picnic park and there were plenty of great looking Corvettes to see including Lance Miller’s Le Mans winning 1960 Briggs Cunningham Corvette. Leake Auction Company will be offering over 30 Corvettes for sale at their upcoming Dallas event. The three day sale will take place Friday, November 18th through Sunday, November 20th at Market Hall in Dallas, Texas. Corvettes were in plentiful supply at SEMA and we made an attempt to photograph each and every one we could find. That meant walking every aisle and outdoor space at the show. But we sacrificed for you our readers because you deserve no less. And so after the jump, we present the Corvettes of SEMA.
The benefit of having an auxiliary hardtop for your roadster is that you can drive your Corvette longer as the weather turns cooler, thereby extending your driving season for an extra couple of months each year. But putting that hardtop on your Corvette, or removing it when the weather turns nice can be a real struggle. You can call the wife out to the garage, go get a neighbor or attempt to do it yourself, but it only takes one careless move to damage the top or worse, the back of your Corvette. So when we saw the Glassworks Lift System at SEMA, we knew we had to spread the word on this innovative product.

This particular Corvette was found outside the main entrance to the SEMA show and was a constant source of admiration from attendees who were passing by.
