Corvette Auction Preview: Auctions America at Spring Carlisle

Auctions America will be hosting their annual Spring Carlisle auction this weekend at the Carlisle Expo Center in Carlisle, PA. Sales will begin at 3pm April 25th and 26th. Over 200 cars are currently listed online to cross the block including almost 20 Corvettes. That Corvette docket includes 3 cars previously used at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving as well as one rare black on red 1959 big brake fuelie.

Spring Carlisle is the third event of the year for Carlisle Events at their 150 acre fairgrounds complex. In addition to the 8,100 vendor spots, swap meet, and car corral, Auctions America will host their annual sale just down the street at the Carlisle Expo Center. Some of our favorites available this weekend include a yellow 1972 LT-1 coupe, a white 1963 split window coupe, and a red 1966 big block convertible. If those aren’t enough for you here’s a closer look at a few other unique Corvettes available at Spring Carlisle.

Lot 160 and Lot 392 – 2008 Corvette Victory Red Z06 Coupes: The first 2 of 3 Corvettes formerly housed at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Both cars have about 15,000 miles on them and feature the Z06-standard 505hp LS7 and 6-speed transmission. The auction listings state that each was primarily used for braking exercises and not as actual track cars. Both remain largely stock and come with a full stack of maintenance records. Both cars do feature a few performance upgrades including Performance Friction brake pads, custom alignments, and 160-degree thermostats.

Lot 365 – 2011 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe: Also from Bondurant, this Velocity Yellow 3LT GS with HUD and transparent top is powered by the 430hp LS3 that’s paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 11,250 miles. Like the Z06’s above, a binder of maintenance records is included in the sale. The only non-stock items are a Borla exhaust, an hour meter, and a four-point racing harness. The auction listing states that the car has a clean title, but the factory warranty was voided due to being a track car.

Lot 376 – 1959 Big Brake Fuelie: You’ve probably noticed by now that we’ve got a bit of a fetish for the C1 big brake fuelies. The Bloomington Gold Certified 1959 is 1 of 142 made that year and is finished in a menacing black on red color combo. The car is documented back to March 3, 1959 when the original owner took delivery at Ourisman Chevrolet in Washington D.C. The frame off restored C1 is powered by the 290hp 283ci fuel injected motor that’s backed by a T10 four-speed manual tranny. Other options include the heavy duty brakes and suspension and 15 x 5.5 wheels. Essentially a factory racecar, the radio and heater were left off of the order sheet.
