We got some good news, and some even better news if you are planning to purchase a 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X, Chevrolet’s 721-hp AWD Corvette that has evolved from both the discontinued E-Ray and the award-winning Corvette ZR1X.
This morning, Roger Kiel’s C8 Production Tracker on Facebook says the first batch of customer-ordered Grand Sport Xs was completed on Tuesday with the total number of completed cars rising to 8 over the two shifts.
The first GSX allocations for customer orders were received by dealers back on June 11, so the time from dealer allocations to build completion was almost exactly two months.
On that same post from the C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) Facebook page, another GSX buyer confirmed that his VIN #011 was built today (Wednesday), quoting the official email he got from GM: “Congratulations! Your vehicle has been produced. It is important to know that shipping arrangements will take place next and your selling dealer is the best source for additional detail on that process.”
That’s the good news about the Grand Sport X. As for the even better news, another GSX buyer chimed in on the Facebook post that his TPW was next week, and he just received his VIN: #065! He says that is the highest VIN he has seen so far from someone with a TPW for next week.
So to recap, the first Grand Sport X Corvettes have been completed, and we are already seeing VIN 065 scheduled for next week with a TPW of 8/17.
That doesn’t sound like the traditional new model ramp up like we were used to seeing with the C8s. Those daily reports when the E-Ray was first launched were almost too painful to look when we would see low daily quantities of zero, one, or two units built per day. Seeing these quantities on the first day is a nice turnaround from that, so all good news happening so far with the Grand Sport X!
If your Grand Sport X has already been completed, or is scheduled for the next couple of weeks, congratulations! Your wait has almost come to an end!
