This afternoon we received word from our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com that the Corvette Assembly Plant is scheduling three weeks of closures this fall due to supplier-related parts constraints.
The shut down of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant will start on Monday, September 28th and runs through Friday, October 16th. Affected Weeks of production include:
• September 28
• October 5
• October 12
As was the case when the Assembly Plant shut down for three weeks over April, May, and June, the planned stoppage is being blamed on supplier-related parts constraints. We’ve been seeing plenty of constraints ongoing since the 2027s started down the line and while of the issues are related to carbon fiber and the Corvette’s aero pieces, we have heard about some other issues impacting production.
Just last Monday, the plant was only reduced to just one shift and it’s believed that a parts shortage was responsible.
Hopefully, this three week shutdown with allow Chevrolet’s parts suppliers and vendors a chance to catch up with whatever is causing the bottleneck in production.

2024 – E-Ray is delayed production until January ’24 and has a very short run
2025 – E-Ray has full production year (largest total) but is immediately overshadowed by the hype for 2026 interior changes; resulting in many buyers wishing to swap for 2026’s and dealers ordering lackluster 2025’s with the remaining allocations
2026 – E-Ray has lowest production year of all. Cause is later identified as GM using up v1.0 motors and limiting production to existing stocks thereof. Largely overshadowed by both the v2.0 motors and the LS6 engine being available for 2027.
2027 – Grand Sport X is not produced at the SORP for 2027. GM then shuts down the plant for 3 weeks–further delaying production.
GM hates AWD fans. They’re about a half step removed from spitting on you and telling you its raining.
