If you squint hard enough, this red-on-red Corvette could convince you it’s 1983 all over again. That’s the year I bought my first ‘Vette — a red 1980 model — and this one for sale on Craigslist feels like it rolled straight out of that memory.
This 1980 Chevrolet Corvette, finished in the rare red on red combo, still wears its original paint and shows just 32,000 actual miles. The seller says it’s had three owners, remains “very clean for the year,” and drives exactly the way a late C3 should: smooth, tight, and without any known issues.
Under the hood sits the familiar L48 350 V8 paired with an automatic transmission, and the car has recently been ceramic coated to keep that glossy red shine alive. Inside, an aftermarket radio is the only deviation from stock in an interior that looks like new.
The asking price: $22,000, offered out of Lake Havasu City, Arizona — a tempting number for anyone who remembers when these cars were the dream machines of every high school parking lot.

Interesting color combination. While I am not a huge fan of red, I find this oddly attractive. At first glance I thought that the price was a little hígh, but not terribly so. That was until I read the comment about the autoloader. It is my opinion that unless we are talking about one of these later model missiles, a Corvette simply should not be an automatic. I realize that some will say that older drivers with limited mobility actually prefer an automatic, but I am hear to tell you that I turned 77 today and due to a stroke, I am not exactly running any marathons, yet I still manage to enter, exit, and drive my 6 speed 2000 FRC.
I like the red over red and black wheels. This car is really sharp looking!
