Freije and Freije’s Spring Big Boy Toy Auction is just around the corner. Hosted by the Auto Dealers Exchange, the 2-day sale runs Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The extensive docket consists of the usual eclectic mix of collector cars, memorabilia, antiques, and more. As we go to press, we find over 400 consignments including over 200 vehicles seeking new homes. Of those, 16 Corvettes spanning generations 1 through 4 are consigned. They represent model years 1959 through 1995.
Here’s a peek at how the Big Boy Toy Corvette docket breaks down.
The available Corvettes range from project-level like the 1984 red coupe to nicely presented classics such as the red/white/black 1959 convertible. Or, maybe the silver/black 1966 convertible can be your next summer cruiser. Don’t miss the Steel Cities Gray 1972 coupe if you want to add some big block power to your collection. Overall, the Big Boy Toy docket is an excellent cross section of obtainable Corvettes that you could park in your garage for a reasonable sum of money.
Here’s a few of our favorites crossing the block at Freije and Freije’s Spring Big Boy Toy auction next week in Indianapolis.
1967 Corvette Convertible
1967 Goodwood Green / Saddle 350hp Convertible: 1967 was the final year of Corvette’s 2nd generation. Today it’s arguably the most desirable model year for collectors. This final-year C2 is finished in the attractive combination of Goodwood Green over a saddle leather interior. A matching numbers 327/350hp L79 engine provides the power, and the 4-speed manual transmission controls the gears. It’s nicely equipped with side exhaust, air conditioning, power steering, AM/FM radio, and bolt on wheels wrapped in red line tires.
1965 Corvette Convertible Custom
1965 White / Blue Custom Convertible: A considerable amount of time and money has been spent on this bold, custom 1965 convertible. The front has been heavily massaged to resemble a C3 Corvette and includes a clamshell hood similar to the C4 generation. Out back, the C2 rear end has been enhanced with an integrated duck bill spoiler and the obligatory 3rd set of taillights. The exterior wears white paint accented with a blue stripe spanning the perimeter of the car. Inside we find a blue interior that’s largely untouched save for a Hurst shifter. It’s powered by a small block V8 engine bolted to a 4-speed transmission. Chrome 5-spoke American Racing wheels and chrome side pipes complete the look of this wild custom Corvette.
1981 Corvette Coupe
1981 White / Blue L81 Coupe: This late production C3 Corvette shows 2,257 actual miles from new. Finished in Classic White over blue cloth interior it presents well preserved condition. The standard L81 350 engine sits up front and the 3-speed automatic transmission rests between the occupants. Like many later C3 Corvettes, it’s loaded up with features including cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, power locks, tilt wheel, alloy wheels and more.
