That’s the story behind this 1982 Chevrolet Corvette, a genuine garage find time capsule being offered at no reserve on eBay, where bidding sits at $2,938 with nearly a week to go. The car has been tucked away in Medway, Massachusetts, untouched since the early 1990s and showing just 57,046 miles.
According to the seller, the Corvette is believed to have had only two owners. The most recent bought it in 1986, drove it for a few years, then parked it when a newborn son made the deep bucket seats incompatible with a child seat. He loved the car too much to sell it—so he stored it. Days became months, months became decades, and now the family is parting with it as part of an estate.
Despite its long hibernation, the seller says the car appears complete and rust free, with a solid undercarriage and birdcage. The Charcoal Metallic paint is dusty but expected to shine again with some attention, and no obvious cracks or body damage were spotted during inspection.
Inside, the silver/gray interior has held up remarkably well. The carpet and dashboard look excellent, while the center console and driver’s door panel show some discoloration that may clean up. Under the hood sits what is believed to be the original 5.7 liter 350 V8 with Cross Fire Injection, the short lived twin throttle body system unique to the ’82 model year. The car hasn’t run since the first Bush administration, so a full mechanical revival is expected—but the engine bay appears untouched and complete.
