The Corvette Z06 GTR.3Rs competing in GTD Pro have been running at the front of the pack for much of the race, but disaster struck the number 3 Corvette Z06 GT3R with about 5 hours to go.
The Yellow/Black Corvette suffered a broken right rear suspension and was forced to limp back to the pit box. From there, the car was moved behind the wall and back to the garage where the crew went to work to replace the broken parts. Once that was done, the Corvette returned to the race but was 24 laps down from the leaders.
Thankfully, the number 4 Corvette Z06 GT3R was there to take the class lead, and Nico Varrone might just be the driver to bring home a class win and the coveted Rolex watch for he and his teammates!

Our friends at the Corvette Racing Fans Facebook page offer this assessment:
Update: 3 car back out after repairing the RR suspension, the 36 is back out after a leaking gearbox. But all five cars are still running. The 4 has continued to be very strong, and the 13 is hanging in there in GTD. A PRO win and GTD podium is definitely in play.
Take No Prisoners! Watch this pass by Tommy Milner to take first place in GTD Pro:
