This Corvette didn’t leave the St. Louis assembly line looking like it does today. Born in Rally Red (974) with black vinyl interior, the car has since been transformed with a beautiful metallic green paint job, black stinger hood and rocker accents, and a pair of additional taillights.

It’s a compelling change – one that’s already drawn attention on the auction site for being far different than the more common “green to red” switch.

This car isn’t just about looks, though. Under the hood sits a replacement 327 V8, installed by a previous owner and refreshed in 2025 with a Dragon Fire tach-drive electronic distributor and new battery, fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, and hoses. Power makes its way to the tires through a four-speed manual transmission and Positraction differential. One commenter believes the car may have started life as a big-block model, citing the 6,500-rpm redline tach, forged U-joint caps, rear sway bar, and big-block radiator – speculation that adds a little mystery, even if the original engine is long gone.

Side pipes and 15-inch American racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires complete the look that we think is “just groovy, baby,” especially when the matching hardtop is in place though the beige soft top certainly adds a nice contrast, too.

The selling dealer purchased the car in May and receipts indicate that some $10,000 has since been spent refurbishing it mechanically and cosmetically, including new rear rotors, pads, and a left-rear caliper and a redo of the black stinger stripe on the hood.

The interior boasts more custom flair, including black vinyl seats with green inserts, a nod to the exterior color swap. Other features include a Hurst shifter, AM/FM radio, heater, telescopic steering column, and new glove box liner and analog clock in 2025.
