The team at Freije and Freije is back at it again, this time with their Fall Big Boy Toy auction. The two-day event runs Friday, September 26th and Saturday, September 27th. The sale is hosted this time by the Auto Dealers Exchange Sales in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The extensive docket the usual eclectic mix of collector cars, memorabilia, antiques, and more. The vehicle consignments include nearly 250 rides seeking new homes. Of those, we find 27 Corvettes covering generations 1 through 6. The Corvettes represent model years 1956 through 2011 and run the gamut from entry level collectibles to nicely restored classics.
Here’s a look at a few Corvettes to keep your eye on.
1956 Corvette
1956 White / Red Roadster: This 1956 Corvette is finished in attractive Polo White over a red vinyl interior. Power comes from a period-correct 265ci V8 with 225hp that’s mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. It was the 437th Corvette built that year and retains many early 1956 items such as the dual four-barrel intake manifold; 9-fin valve covers, choke heat mechanism, passenger-side dipstick, single-bracket-mount generator, unique dual-point distributor, and more.
1965 Corvette
1965 Red / White Roadster: Finished in Rally Red over white vinyl, this midyear convertible is “mechanically sorted and ready for spirited driving enjoyment”. According to the listing, its had recent brake service plus a complete tune up. A 300hp 327ci engine sits up front and is bolted to a 4-speed manual transmission. Options include the red/white interior, a teak steering wheel, white soft top, a red hardtop, and white wall tires with hubcaps. Restoration history files and invoice records accompany the sale.
1998 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car
1998 Radar Blue / Yellow Pace Car Convertible: Chevrolet built 1,158 Pace Car replicas for retail sale in 1998. All wore Radar Blue paint with yellow seats inside. Bold yellow and white Indy 500 graphics and yellow wheels completed the unique exterior look. All were powered by the 345hp LS1, and this example is of the 616 cars built with an automatic transmission. The RPO Z4Z package included a black soft top, memory package, active handling, performance axle ratio, fog lamps, Delco Bose CD radio, and more. This C5 shows just 7,700 miles from new and presents in a condition consistent with that low mileage.
