For the 2026 model year, the new Corvette ZR1 got another new option for its painted Brake Calipers. Buyers now have six colors to choose from with the latest offering being a new Bronze color.

We were thinking these would be a great addition as GM already offers a number of items featuring Bronze. The Stingray and Z06 both offer a Tech Bronze Accessory Wheel, and a couple years ago they introduced a Tech Bronze Accent Package which features the Bronze aluminum wheels, Jake Hood Graphics with Tech Bronze accents, and even Tech Bronze fender hash marks. But GM doesn’t really have those same accessories or packages for the ZR1 which is why we were somewhat surprised when it was on the list of new options for 2026.

During the National Corvette Museum’s 31st Anniversary Celebration, we actually got our first look at the new Bronze brake calipers on a Roswell Green Metallic Corvette ZR1X that was driven to show by one of the Corvette Plant employees. Here are a few photos from that encounter:

So what do you think of the Bronze Brake Calipers for the ZR1 (and ZR1X)? As for my opinion, I’ve seen them for real and to my eyes, the caliper color that we see on the beautiful ZR1X appears to be more tan than bronze.

As a comparison, I opened up the 2026 Configurator, selected the bronze wheels and then went through each exterior color to see if there might be a color combo that would change my mind. You almost need to have Black Wheels so that the color does stand out from the rest of the wheel. It may work with the more pastel colors like the Green, Orange, Comp Yellow, or Hysteria, but with the other brake calipers, you can also select matching accessories from Stripes to Seat Belts that helps tie the color to the car. I have nothing to match this color other than perhaps a Dipped Natural interior but doesn’t sound all that exciting either.

  1. It does look tan to me, and not attractive at all. As to the new yellow colors, when are they going to finally change the accelerate yellow-ish seatbelts to match? They look faded when people try to match them with the new paint and caliper yellows.

  2. I am not a fan of any of the painted calipers.
The first thing that draws my attention when I look at a car with painted calipers is the calipers. That is not the first thing I want someone to notice when they look at my car. I have black calipers and even painted the brake caliper black to my the others.

  3. Don’t like them at all. They’re too light colored and too ugly. I wouldn’t like bronze calipers even if they were a darker true bronze color.

  4. Bronze???
    That’s beige.
    No, no, no.
    Just NO.
The quest for something “different” has gotten totally out of hand.

  5. Please stop that color.. That’s not a good color for a Sporty vehicle. I Bragg on the C8 and the C7 as I have both. But that color I can’t agree with.

  6. I agree with you, don’t really notice them unless they are with a black wheel. But then I can’t stand black wheels. So, there ya go!

  7. Did Chevy have a focus group meeting at all?!? Tan is a no, bright red or yellow is very good. Always depends on wheel style and color and be ok dy paint color.
