Halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago, you’ll find this big-block 1972 Corvette coupe for sale.
One of 27,004 Stingrays built that year in St. Louis, it represents the last of the chrome-bumper Corvettes.
The owner, who lives in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, is asking $36,500 for his Corvette that he claims is in “outstanding condition.”
Hearkening back to the first-year Corvettes in 1953, this one is likewise the traditional Classic White over a red interior, though the long-distance photos don’t really indicate the condition of the paint, nor the interior shown in only one close-up photo of the dash and center stack.
Nor is the big-block 454 engine that pumped out 270 horsepower shown in any of the photos. We are told that the engine is numbers matching, and it’s mated with an M40 Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission.
The owner also notes that he has invested more than $20,000 in a quest to keep this 53-year-old classic in original condition and can show receipts as proof of all that work.
For the time period, the car is nicely equipped, with power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning, and tilt-telescopic steering column.
If you don’t want to part with that much cash, the seller says he will consider a trade for a C6 or C7 of equal value and condition.

I think that’s a bit of a stretch if the owner thinks someone with an outstanding condition C7 would trade even with him.
