GM’s President Mark Reuss not only leads the company in its day-to-day operations, but he also sometimes gets to sample the product! Mark was at the Circuit of the Americas during the 2025 Corvette ZR1 ride and drive event last month and he was able to get some seat time in for himself as he puts the ZR1’s full 1,064 horsepower to work on a proper race track.
This video is a YouTube Short, so it’s over before it even starts. However, we do get a few observations on America’s newest supercar. Mark tells us that the original horsepower goal for the ZR1 was 800 plus, but once they started building the engines, they were getting close to 1,000 hp, and then they surpassed it to come in at 1,064. “That was a magical moment for the whole team,” says Reuss.
Mark also says he drives a ZR1 every day to and from work. “You can drive this car every day, and then come out here and rip the Circuit of the Americas with a 1000 horsepower. Um, that’s pretty special.”
Pretty special indeed!

Let’s hope he has better luck driving this ZR1 than he did with a 2019 ZR1 pace car!
I’d like to see him drive a ZR1 everyday to and from work during Michigan’s cold miserable winters.
Not a fan of Mark and how he handled production of the 2025 ZR1. Calling it poor would be calling it far from how bad it was. I was lucky enough to get VIN# 56 but I could have very easily been kicked off the 2025 list and not had the color I wanted and nothing I can do as a lot of people were. Mark is defiantly not a man of leadership.
I’m sure he can get an E-Ray for winter driving too. But if it were me, I’d grab a 4WD SUV. Use the right tool for the right job. Reuss is one of the few high performance enthusiast executives at GM. Without him, the Corvette would be an EV or SUV by now. Try to restrain the envy…
