Corvette enthusiasts in Australia won’t be able to buy a new 1,064-horsepower ZR1 because right-hand drive models aren’t being produced.
But that doesn’t mean General Motors still doesn’t want to make its customers in “The Land Down Under” feel a little more special.
Along those lines, Chevy announced this week that it will offer a Corvette Stingray R Launch Edition in Australia and New Zealand, starting in January 2026.
Before on-road costs, the special edition will begin at $235,000 in Australia, while the price will be $NZ245,000 (A$225,400) in New Zealand.
A total of only 50 such Corvettes will be offered in the two countries.
The Launch Edition will be based on the 3LT Stingray coupe, which is $201,990 before on-road costs in Australia, so that means the special edition will be priced some $33,010 higher.
That seems like a lot of extra cash for the Stingray R Appearance Package that includes gloss-black 20-inch forged alloy wheels with a red stripe, a carbon fiber roof, and unique build plate, but supposedly it will include “an array of other premium, eye-catching standard features,” according to General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) that handles sales of the car in the two countries.
The 3LT features the new interior for 2026 with a larger 12.7-inch center touchscreen, 14.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and 6.6-inch auxiliary screen – along with real aluminum inlays, leather and upper suede interior packages, leather-wrapped steering wheel, GT2 bucket memory seats, head-up display, Performance Data and Video Recorder, 14-speaker premium audio system, and more.
Just as in the United States, the Stingray’s powerplant is a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 that produces 368 kW of power and 637 Nm of torque, mated with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
