If you’re good at jigsaw puzzles, this 1957 Corvette might be just the car for you.
Currently disassembled, the car is on the market because the owner says he must sell it because of illness.
This vintage C1 is being offered on Craigslist out of Topsfield, Massachusetts (northeast of Boston) with an asking price of $35,000.
All the parts are said to be there, but a new owner will have to pick up the gauntlet and put those pieces together again.
Despite its current condition, this Humpty Dumpty of a Corvette seems to have a lot going for it, including the rebuilt numbers-matching 283/245 horsepower twin four-barrel carburetor V8 engine that will have to be reinstalled. The listing doesn’t offer confirmation about which kind of manual transmission the car has, but it’s either the standard three-speed or the optional four-speed.
Helping with the restoration will be the more than $10,000 in NOS GM parts that the seller says he has already purchased, including all new GM chrome in original packaging, with “a ton of receipts” included. A new red interior is also among those parts.
Fortunately, too, the frame is described as “true & straight” and it has already been painted and stored inside to keep it safe from the elements. Also included with the sale are a hardtop and a soft top.
Are you ready to put this puzzle of a Corvette together and take it for a spin down the road?
