Carlisle Auctions’ Spring 2025 event is rapidly approaching. The two-day sale will be held April 24th and 25th at the Carlisle Expo Center in Carlisle, PA. We’ve previously looked at some of the superb Corvettes crossing the docket and they’ve recently added several more Corvettes from the Bellisarios Collection.
The eclectic docket is growing daily and contains everything from pre-war classics to modern day beauties. Thanks to recent additions, the Corvette count now stands at 34.
The Bellisarios Collection brings us six Corvettes built between 1963 to 1990. The set includes three midyears, two later C3’s and a 1990 C4 ZR1. It’s said that All Corvettes are Red and that holds true for 4 of the 6 cars to be offered in Carlisle.
With that theme in mind, here’s a closer look at a few of the Bellisarios Corvettes.
1963 Red/Red Corvette Convertible:
The 1963 model year marked the introduction of Corvette’s revolutionary second generation. The coupe’s iconic split window became an instant, albeit controversial, design statement. Interestingly, the convertible model slightly outsold the popular coupe that year. Today, collectors clamor over 1963 coupes while the convertibles remain quietly popular while offering a more wallet-friendly entrance to the C2 market.
Our 1963 convertible available in Carlisle is finished in red over a matching red interior and a red hardtop. It’s powered by a matching numbers 300hp variant of the 327CI engine that’s mated to 4-speed manual transmission. Other features include C3-style rally wheels wrapped in radial tires and “radio delete” which technically means no radio was ordered.
1979 Red/Red L48 Corvette Coupe:
The 1979 model year continues to hold the record for the highest production year ever at 53,807 units. Changes over the previous year were relatively minor except for addition of the 1978 pace car-style seats as standard equipment plus the pacer’s front and rear spoilers as optional equipment.
This Corvette Red C3 is one of the 6.707 examples built that year. The perennially popular color was the 4th highest production color in 1979. It’s powered by the base L48 engine that’s backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 44,510 miles and it’s nicely equipped with red leather, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, and glass T-tops.
1990 Red/Saddle Corvette ZR1:
Corvette ZR-1 #2475 of the 3,049 first-year units is finished in Torch Red over the Light Beige leather interior. Like all ZR1’s, the 4 cam LT5 sits up and a 6-speed manual transmission resides behind it. The car features both clear and painted tops as well as FX3 ride control, electronic climate control, power windows, seats, locks, and more. The odometer reads just 29,482 miles.
