On Thursday, one of our spy photographers caught up to a group of Corvette engineers testing the C8 Corvette ZORA Prototypes in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and he also grabbed this quick video capturing the moment the ZORA prototypes left a gas station to head out for more testing.
From looking at the corresponding spy photos we got on Thursday, we know that all five of these C8 prototypes are wearing the unique vertically-mounted radiator that signals the inclusion of a special cooling loop for the front electrical motor.
Two of the cars have the ZR1’s high wing while another had the Z06 high wing. We had previously asked the engineers about using the Z06 high wing on the ZR1 prototypes and were told that sometimes it was all that was available. So even the Corvette team is suffering from the lack of aero.
We noticed that this one below also had a bit of the front trim removed on the grill which should maximize its airflow through the center radiator. In fact, three of the five prototypes all that center grill opened up. The C8 to its left with the high wing has the piece of trim installed.
While there’s nothing groundbreaking shown here, it’s still pretty cool to see the guys doing their tests with an upcoming Corvette.

Sound on! Two different groups of Corvette engineers were spied testing the Z06, ZR1 and Zora prototypes when we managed to get a clip of the group leaving a gas station in Michigan/USA.

So I guess that the ‘Zora’ is a melding of the ZR1 and eRay?
Michael,
Not sure if it is a new model or a performance package on the ZR1. I’m not even 100% sure it’s an LT7 vs. an LT6.
I still think the ideal name for it is ZR-A. ZR(1) + All wheel drive. Zora.
What I would recommend is a “Grand Sport” {E-Ray with Z06 engine} or call THAT the “ZORA”
and leave the ZR1 as the Power-House all-engine Model, or “Track Car”.
And the ZORA would be “The Old and the New” of Zora’s Dream of Rear Wheel Drive and the ‘New E-Drive”… combined.
Though MANY Corvette Guys don’t really CARE about Storage space… when you eliminate front, with an E-Drive, and the Trunk with Turbo’s and radical exhaust, to make it bare-able for
Government standards, and no interior space, but to pile up the passenger seat… then the car becomes totally impractical…
