‘Corvette Headquarters’ Neon Sign from Malcolm Konner Chevrolet Offered in Bring a Trailer

Perhaps it’s no accident that the “World’s No. 1 Corvette Salesman” got his start at the “World’s Largest Corvette Dealer” back in the 1970s.

Mike Furman, who has gone on to sell more than 6,000 Corvettes in his career, including a couple to Corvette Bloggers Keith Cornett and I in the past couple of years, likely could tell stories about this vintage “CORVETTE HEADQUARTERS” neon sign that used to hang in the upstairs Corvette showroom in those days at the No. 1 Corvette dealer in the world, Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in Paramus, New Jersey. Indeed, it’s likely that even Zora Arkus-Duntov saw this sign during one of his visits to the dealership.

In fact, we searched our Malcolm Konner image collection on Pinterest and found these photos with the sign displayed at the legendary New Jersey dealership:

We’re told that the sign was undergoing an overhaul at a local neon shop when new owners took over the Malcolm Konner dealership and decided they didn’t want to keep it. Eventually, a collector bought the sign from the neon shop, and now it’s being offered for sale on Bring a Trailer.

Like every red-blooded Corvette enthusiast in the world, I can just picture this sign anchored to my garage wall (or living room wall if it wouldn’t lead to a divorce), a nice accent to my recently acquired 2010 silver Grand Sport convertible.

The High Bid is currently sitting at $3000 with five days still to go.

As you can see from the photos, the word “CORVETTE” is spelled out in red neon, just above the smaller “HEADQUARTERS” in white. The sign isn’t perfect as some of the black paint on areas meant to remain dark is said to be peeling.

Approximately 15 feet wide by 2 feet tall and weighing 28 pounds, the sign is wired for 120 volts and has three power transformers with US three-prong wall plugs. The seller suggests replacing the high-tension leads said to be short coming from the transformers.
