Great news today, Corvette Fans! After last week’s drop of pricing for the 2025 Corvette ZR1s, and then the release of the ZR1’s Order Guide, we just got the fantastic news that the first production-ready 2025 Corvette ZR1s have just come off the Corvette assembly line in Bowling Green!
As we have discussed before, the beginnings of a new Corvette model under development start first with the Experimental “EX” VIN prototypes which are all the ZR1 test cars we’ve spied on the roads through today. Once their testing regime is completed, these cars cannot be resold and will be sent to the crusher for destruction.
Next up are production ZR1s with a saleable VIN number. The ZR1s completed today are the start of the true Captured Test Fleet (CTF) and once GM is done driving them, they can be auctioned off through the Chevrolet dealer network and offered by dealers as pre-owned. The final milestone in development will be the official start of customer “retail” production, which GM has slated for 2nd Quarter 2025.
According to our friend Rick Corvette Conti, the Corvette Assembly Plant just completed the first two 2025 Corvette ZR1s with saleable VINs earlier today The VIN 001 ZR1 is a Yellow Coupe with Yellow Calipers while VIN 002 is an Arctic White Coupe also with Yellow Calipers. Rick says he’s have more on these cars later in the week, so make sure you follow his channel for updates.
Surprisingly, Rick also tells us that three “EX” VIN prototype 2026 Corvette ZR1s are also on the line today. With an interior refresh rumored for next year, it’s no wonder why the assembly plant hasn’t yet resumed public tours.
Just as a reminder, GM will be offering the first RETAIL version of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 this Saturday at 5:30 PM MST at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction. The winner of that auction will be able to build VIN 001 in the configuration and colors of their choice.

In before CTFV ZR1’s end up in the hands of retailers who think that they can charge over base MSRP for a vehicle that has been flogged for 20k miles.
