December 2024 Order Cycle Allocations and General Constraints

There is only one Corvette order cycle for December 2024 and dealers received their allocation numbers and general constraints on Thursday morning.

Once again we are hearing from some dealers (but not all surprisingly) who tell us that their Stingray allocation numbers are down from what they were getting earlier this year. Of course, we’ve seen the marketplace reacting to the oversupply of Stingrays currently on dealership lots with some heaving discounting going on. This is also the first time in the C8 era that many dealers having to deal with selling both last year’s remaining 2024 models and the new 2025 models available at the same time.

I time-traveled back to this summer to see what Roger Kiel’s production reports were showing then vs today and the number of Stingrays being produced has dropped significantly. In the first three weeks of June 2024, the weekly production counts for Stingrays were 538, 553, and 639. On the current report which goes back to mid-November, we see totals of 378, 241, and 436. (The 241 total came during Thanksgiving week with the plant having two days off, so you can attribute approximately 160-170 of those missing cars to that vacation time). Still, that’s a difference of 675 units produced during those two time periods.

So my point is, Stingray allocations are being throttled and there are less being produced as GM works to help firm up the market. Starting tonight after the 2nd shift, the plant will be closed for three weeks and will reopen on Monday, January 6th and that should help with the over-supply as well.

Obviously this is a buyers market once again and you can get some great deals on remaining 2024s and even in-stock 2025s depending on your dealer, so if you are a Stingray buyer who wants to save some significant cash, now is a great time to buy off the lot. If you want something specific, make sure you visit Chevrolet.com and use their “Search Inventory” function to find the Corvette that’s right for you!

If you are ordering a new 2025 Corvette this week, GM did give dealers the general options on constraint for the three models. These options are available in certain quantities and then next week they will get the hard numbers to dealers on what they can order. Those constraints are:

2025 Stingray
• Q9I 20-Spoke Wheels

2025 Z06
• T0F/T0G – High Wing

2025 E-Ray
• CFV/CFZ – Ground Effects

GM also told dealers that ZR1 allocations are still scheduled for February 2025, but we are still waiting for the next production update as we know they still are building only “EX-VIN” experimental pre-production Corvettes. Once they have their final validation and start building saleable captured test fleet vehicles, we’ll know that retail production will start soon afterwards.

That’s our latest update and if anything else comes out that is newsworthy, we’ll be sure to share it with you.
