[STOLEN] Police Looking for Help in Locating a Stolen 1958 Corvette

Chevy set a record with the production of 9,168 Corvette convertibles back in 1958.

Now one of those sixth-year C1s, which appears to be painted a beautiful shade of Silver Blue with silver coves, has gone missing, and the Los Angeles Police Department is asking for your help to return it to its rightful owner.

Unfortunately, the theft happened more than three weeks ago, so the likelihood of a happy ending for this crime is growing slimmer by the day.

Police say the man you see pictured here first entered an underground parking garage of a building on the 12200 block of West Olympic Boulevard in West Los Angeles around 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 4. Minutes later, surveillance video captured the same man driving out of the garage in the classic convertible.

The man is described as being approximately 6 feet tall and 25 to 30 years old and was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, dark shorts, two-tone gray and white shoes, a black backpack, and holding a skateboard before stealing the Corvette.

Police say the car – with a VIN of 1KJ358 – had a Rhode Island license plate, which left us wondering, or perhaps hoping, the actual owner had driven it from the East Coast to the West Coast. What an adventure that would have been! Perhaps some of our readers could share their stories of a similar long journey in their own Corvette.
