Corvettes have always been about constant improvement.

Sometimes, the “latest and greatest” features of new Corvettes can also be retrofitted to older cars.

According to a recent post by GM Authority, one of the high-tech features of the upcoming 2025 ZR1 will make its way onto future Z06s (and therefore theoretically on older Z06s, too).

Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter, before retiring earlier this summer, revealed to the media that the new ZR1 will be rolling on improved tires with their own unique specs.

“Because of the incredible performance in the ZR1, we had to tweak the tire construction a little and bump up [the tire spec],” Juechter explained to GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft.

The good news for future new Z06 owners is that the same ZR1-spec tire is also slated to migrate over to that variant, he said.

According to GM Authority, GM utilizes a tire specification called Tire Performance Criteria (TPC) which measures various factors including wet and try traction, efficiency, and longevity. GM then works with their tire vendors like Michelin to match tire compounds for their given applications.

On both variants, the standard tire is the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, with the optional tire being the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R (with the ZTK package on the ZR1 and the Z07 Performance Package on the Z06).

Owners of 2023-24 Z06s and 2024-25 E-Rays might be able to upgrade the performance of their cars by upgrading to the same ZR1-spec tires on their cars, too.
