It’s been just over one week since the 2025 Corvette ZR1 was officially revealed and thankfully we have another real-life example to share. Check out these photos of a Riptide Blue pre-production ZR1 Convertible that spotted on the streets of Detroit. The photos was posted to the Facebook group C8 Corvette, Z06 & ZR1 by Emilian Costan.
Emilian was able to capture the new King of the Hill on all sides of the car, and it’s no doubt now that this latest ZR1 Corvette will be defined by its large pass-through air extractor in the hood, just as the previous C6 ZR1 had the polycarbonate window in the hood while the C7 ZR1 had the top of its LT5 engine actually sticking through the hood.
This Riptide Blue ZR1 Convertible is pretty dirty and it appears to still have some remnants of its former vinyl camouflage still on the front of the car. We can imagine trying to remove all the remaining vinyl camo still attached to the front hexagonal grill would likely take a full day’s work. And that’s on a car that will eventually be crushed, so why bother!
One of tidbits we’ve heard that is unique to the new ZR1 is that engineers had to beef up the rear wheel hubs with larger studs to account for the ZR1’s greater torque. This photo appears to confirm that as we can see that it is equipped with Black wheels and chrome lug nuts. Check out the larger pattern on the rear wheel as compared to the front wheels:
Another interesting aspect of this car is that it’s clearly a ZR1 widebody as it has both the front air extractor in the front hood and the ram air inlet at the back point of the wishbone. Yet, the car also has a Z06 badge on the sides, as if they are trying to pass of the car to the uninformed as Z06.
Well, that’s not gonna work on us! We see what you’re doing, Chevy…and frankly we love it!

Minutes later it was found up on blocks missing its wheels/tires 😆
Venezuelan gangs already have it before this article posted.
‘Top Speed’ configuration. The low rear wing, my personal preference, less drag for those 215 MPH plus runs!
No high level rear wing – not my style for the mighty ZR1.
Damn that thing is ugly with black wheels, blue exterior, red interior, non body color nacelles and yes I know the function of the hood, but not good looking imo.
Where is the split window
This is not a ZR1 it doesn’t have the split window?
Cool, to bad they get crushed. Brian, the one in the pics is a drop top the coup has the spine. I think it looks killer, stuck wrap and all.
Split window is only on the coupes
