[VIDEO] The NCM Insurance Agency is Featured on YouTube's Octane Hour

During the 2024 Michelin NCM Bash, the NCM Insurance Agency with its director Adam Boca hosted a special after-hours tour of the National Corvette Museum with Mike Brink and his YouTube channel Brink of Speed. The special tour was broadcasted live to YouTube as part of Brink of Speed’s weekly Wednesday evening Corvette show called “Octane Hour.”

This is the first time that the National Corvette Museum has hosted a live YouTube show, and it’s a great opportunity to learn more about some of these great cars as Adam provides some of the background stories behind many of the Corvettes inside. Of course, you’ll also get some great advice about insuring your Corvette as Mike and his two co-hosts Darren and Neighbor Mark are all NCM Insurance Agency customers.

2009 Corvette ZR1

As they are broadcasting from the NCM SkyDome, Brink points out the Jetstream Blue 2009 Corvette ZR1 in the background, saying the color is one his favorites. Adam reminds us that this was the ZR1 made famous as one of the eight Corvettes that fell into the sinkhole back in 2014. Several months later during the rescue efforts, a crane lifted the ZR1 back to ground level, and everyone was astonished as the Corvette fired right up – provided a welcome shot of optimism for those working on the recovery efforts. Adam continues with the backstory, saying that car was originally a C6 Z06 built on an experimental VIN, and converted to the ZR1. This is also the same 2009 Corvette ZR1 featured in all the promotional photos and videos for the ZR1 program during its launch. That’s quite the backstory story alright, and it’s a perfect representation of the types of cars on display at the National Corvette Museum.

Adam also provides his 25-year backstory with the NCM. Growing up in Bowling Green, Adam remembers the C5 Corvettes being tested in the town prior to their launch and the excitement that followed, so he started volunteering at the museum before being offered a full-time job in the newly-created R8C Delivery Program. From there he moved into the Events department, and then he got the opportunity to start the NCM Insurance Agency. Now they are celebrating their 15 Anniversary with over 40,000 vehicle policies valued collectively at $1.5 billion.

1983 Corvette

The Collection at the NCM is extensive and the guys do a walking tour around the NCM Skydome to see everything from the one-and-only 1983 Corvette to one of the first EX-VIN E-Rays constructed at the Corvette Assembly Plant that is on loan to the facility. Adam says there are three tiers of cars on display, with those donated to or owned by the NCM, cars on loan from General Motors, and then other vehicles on temporary display that are owned by its members. There’s some great history under the SkyDome and Adam’s stories behind the car make this video a must watch!

As Brink of Speed’s Octane Hour is sponsored by the NCM Insurance Agency, there is a discussion on the various policies out there with the NCM Insurance Agency specializing in Agreed Value policies. “We agree on the value of the car before the policy is issued,” says Adam. “And that’s what you are going to get if you ever have a total loss.” Adam says this process is fairly easy, and it’s backed up by Darren telling us his new C8 Z06 had an MSRP in the $140s, but he was able to do an Agreed Value policy through NCM Insurance for $165K, knowing that the cars were selling for higher amounts, and that he was going to be adding some modifications to it. And of course, it’s not just Corvettes that can be insured. As long as you meet the few guidelines, any collector vehicle can be insured with the NCM.
