Someone quipped that this is the way NOT to store a future collectible!
We’d be inclined to agree after taking a look at the disgustingly nasty photos of this trio of highly collectible C3 Corvettes.
According to the Facebook Marketplace listing where they’re being offered, two of the cars are from 1978 – a Pace Car and a Silver Anniversary – and the third is a 1982 Collector Edition.
“These cars are not cleaned and do not run,” the seller points out. “They’ve been parked in there since new.”
That’s all well and good, but when the asking price is a whopping $150,000, we’re a little inclined to be skeptical. On the other hand, the cars are apparently being sold at no reserve, with the highest offer to be accepted – though you’ll have to go to Rittman, Ohio to negotiate the price in person.
There’s definitely no problem with the miles on the cars – the Pace Car has 293 miles, the Silver Anniversary has 1,599, and the Collector Edition wins the prize with a miniscule 33.
We get the idea of not washing a barn find, saving that thrilling opportunity for the new owner, but a buyer might feel more secure knowing what kind of condition the paint is in underneath decades’ worth of dirt and grime.
If someone is willing to pay anywhere near the asking price, they seem to be taking a gamble since it’s possible that the paint may need to be redone, and things like hoses, belts, and tires will definitely need to be replaced. On the other hand, the few photos showing the interiors seem to indicate they’re still in excellent condition.
While we love these three cars and what they represent in the illustrious history of the Corvette, the fact remains that they’re not really high-performance cars relatively speaking, even when perfect. On the other hand, what a story this would be at Mecum or Barrett-Jackson one day if all three cars are cleaned up and turn out to be beautiful. The
Before and After shots would be unreal in that case.
So just how much would you be willing to pay for this nasty trio?

That’s pathetic that some lazy ass would let these incredibly low mile collectible C3’s just sit around and deteriorate like that.
I hate seeing this shit, the guy is high on his price. They will all need complete and total going through. How does anyone buy new nice cars and let them just sit for decades??? It’s all about the money I guess.
