PVD Chrome is applied differently to wheels than the traditional “chemical bath” which involves dipping wheels over and over to achieve a chrome finish. PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition, and during the process, the factory wheels are coated with a micro-thin layer of chrome while inside a vacuum chamber. This creates an inseparable bond between the chrome finish and alloy wheels and then they are sealed with an acrylic clear coat to protect and enhance the PVD finish.
