Just when we thought the United Auto Workers Strike against the Big Three manufacturers had been resolved, out comes the news that workers at both Ford and GM have voted to reject the negotiated deals. Today, workers at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green will vote to ratify the agreement.

According to insiders, the vote at Spring Hill wasn’t even close, with 67.5% voting against the contract while 32.5% voted in favor of it. This is the second GM facility that we are aware of that has voted against the agreement. Last Friday, workers at GM’ Flint assembly plant in Michigan which manufacturers the heavy duty Silverado voted narrowly against the proposed contract with the vote reported to be 51.8% against the deal.

Meanwhile, the vote by members of the UAW 862 that represents 12,000 workers at two Ford plants in Kentucky were mixed with 55% of workers at the Kentucky Truck Plant voting against the deal, while workers at Louisville Assembly voted 53% in favor of it.

That leads us back to Bowling Green and the Corvette Assembly Plant where members of the UAW Local 2164 will be voting on ratification. We are told that voting will be held throughout the day and will close at 5pm CT. We’ll have those results as soon as they become available.
