[VIDEO] Spun Out C6 Corvette Hits Wall While Merging, Takes Off in Embarrassment


I fell off a ladder many years ago while painting my house. Instead of worrying about whether I was injured, I immediately started looking around to see if anyone had witnessed my embarrassing accident.

Fortunately, that was back in the days before the ubiquitous cellphone camera so no one was there to capture my faux pas on video and instantly turn me into a viral clown.

The driver of this Corvette wasn’t so lucky. His misadventures were captured by a trailing motorist’s dashcam, only to be shared with the entire world on the internet.

Check out this video posted on Reddit’s IdiotsInCars that shows the unfortunate incident pretty much from start to finish.

It all goes down in Everett, Washington as a C6 driver guns it down the very long 41st Street on-ramp and crashes into the retaining wall next door, sending him spinning out of control across several lanes of I-5. Luckily, he isn’t hit by any of the oncoming cars but it sure doesn’t take him long to straighten back up and skedaddle on his way, quickly moving out of sight, out of mind but leaving miscellaneous parts of his Corvette bouncing, careening, and flying through the air in his wake.

This driver isn’t the first and surely won’t be the last to suffer such a fate. Witness this comment on Reddit from another such ill-fated driver, who explains:

“Something similar happened to me once. I had a car without traction control and I was driving, cruise control on, and I hit a massive puddle in a dip on the highway. It wasn’t raining at all. Aquaplaning happened and because cruise control was on, the car just spun on me as soon as front wheels hit the pavement again. The car just spun 2 full revolutions in the middle of the same lane I originally was. I clutched in (manual transmission) during the 1st spin, which canceled the cruise control. The car still died when I came to a complete stop. Still freaking out, I checked my mirrors and saw traffic behind me was at a standstill, no doubt thinking I was about to go hit a barrier. I just started the car, adrenaline pumping, and just drove away.”

Other posts offered humorous takes on the incident, including:

“Hello insurance? Yeah I hit a deer the other day.”

“Now that’s how you make an entrance!”

“East bound and down, Loaded up and truckin’.”

And in the vein of my ladder incident comes this post: “It’s like falling. You gotta pop right back up to avoid the embarrassment of everyone looking down at you.”

Fortunately, it appears that the only victims of this crash were the retaining wall, the Corvette itself, and the pride of the driver.

Let’s hope he has good coverage on the car, though it’s sure going to be hard to explain the crash when it’s been posted all over the internet, huh?

  4. Hope the insurance company doesn’t get the black box information out of the car. Never sign up for insurance good driver apps.

  5. Began to slide due to spinning tires at gear shift. Unfortunate lack of talent. Had enough instinct to get going and not sit across traffic.

  6. He wasn’t even going very fast and it looks dry?? I don’t get it, guessing he wasn’t paying attention maybe and over corrected. Where was the traction control?? Not sure what to think about this, I have a C6 GS with a manual and do way more playing then that. He should have been able to drive out of that, wasn’t going very fast. Maybe a wet spot??
