Jordan Taylor Leaving Corvette Racing to Return Home to Wayne Taylor Racing

After a decade racing General Motors cars, Jordan Taylor is heading back to his family next year.

The 32-year-old Taylor will join his father’s team at Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport to compete in the GTP class in 2024 in an Acura ARX-06.

Both teams announced their 2024 driver rosters on Thursday.

Chevrolet will replace Taylor with Alexander Sims, who’s leaving Cadillac Racing’s GTP car to join Corvette Racing for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GTD Pro class. Sims joins returning veterans Antonio Garcia, Tommy Milner, and Nicky Catsburg, and they’ll be competing in the 10-round GTD Pro championship for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports in the first year of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

“We’re very pleased with the full-season IMSA lineup in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R for 2024,” said Mark Stielow, director, Chevrolet Motorsports Competition Engineering. “The four drivers have exceptional records and history with Corvette. At the same time, we thank Jordan Taylor for his years of service and success with General Motors. He has been an important part of Corvette Racing and a great ambassador for Chevrolet. We wish him well.”

Taylor’s 10-year stint as a factory driver for Corvette Racing and General Motors included 33 wins and four Drivers championships in both prototype and GT competition, including wins in 2020 and 2021 with Corvette Racing. He helped the team win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015 and captured three wins in the Rolex 24 for GM.

“I loved my time competing in GT with Corvette Racing alongside Antonio these past few years,” Taylor said. “We had a lot of success together. I’ve learned a lot and grown as a driver, so I’m looking forward to bringing that experience back to prototype racing.”

Over the past 25 years, Corvette Racing has won 126 races, including 114 in IMSA, with the most recent victory last month at the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. For the second consecutive year, Corvette Racing has programs in both IMSA and FIA World Endurance Championship with the Corvette C8.R, now competing in its final season.

At WTRAndretti, Taylor will team next year with co-driver Louis Delétraz as part of a team that also features Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque.

  1. No doubt Jordan was the best driver for Corvette Racing and he represented all of us Corvette fans well. My only thing about him was that his character was just as goofy as the goofy looking styling of the Acura prototype he will be driving now. I was never really amused by his sense of humor.
