As we begin to move through August, the eyes of the automotive world head west to California and Monterey Week. Likewise, our friends at Mecum Auctions will be there once again hosting their Daytime Monterey Auction at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on the Del Monte Golf Course. Mecum’s 3-day sale is the only auction of the week that takes place during the day.

The Monterey sale always takes the level of cars to the next level. Just look at all the modern super cars, prewar classics, European exotics, and good old American muscle cars looking for new homes. As we assemble this post, we see 523 vehicles on the docket. Of those, 30 great Corvettes await your bids. Two of those Corvettes come from Mr. October, Reggie Jackson’s collection and two more are selling out of the Sports Car Showcase Collection.

Diving deeper into the Corvette docket we find nearly 2/3 of the lots split between 1st and 2nd generation cars. The remaining 1/3 consists of C3’s and later Corvettes. The only generation not represented yet is the C6 era. In typical Mecum fashion, the mix of Corvettes range from rare racers, fanatically restored cars, and even a few modern C8’s. Here’s how the Corvettes breakdown by generation:

C1: 11
C2: 9
C3: 3
C4: 1
C5: 1
C7: 2
C8: 3

Since this is Monterey, the bar is set higher with an all-star lineup of Corvette options. Here you’ll find heavy hitters like L88, ZR2, Airbox, Z06 and more. Here’s a look at some of our favorites crossing the red carpet in Monterey.
