Most Corvette owners we know have a love/hate relationship with their wheels. We love them when they are clean and looking good as they provide the perfect focal point and stance, but keeping them in that condition can be a real chore as we are constantly fighting against brake dust, road grime, and other contaminants.

GTECHNIQ’s line-up of cleaners and coatings were born out of pure science and their engineers have taken a scientific approach to maintaining the look of our wheels and tires. With their manta being “restore, protect and maintain”, GTECHNIQ offers these specialty cleaners and coatings that will make your wheels look like new again while protecting and making them easy to maintain for up to two years.

If your Corvette needs a wheel makeover, follow these simple six steps with GTECHNIQ that will have your wheels looking better than ever!

Step 1 – GWash

GWash to Clean the Wheel and Tire

GWash is a car shampoo from GTECHNIQ which provides an all-in-one solution for vehicles and its a great starting point for cleaning our Corvette’s wheels, tires, and the surrounding body. It’s specially designed to work in conjunction with GTECHNIQ’s coatings without damage, and it’s safe to use on matte and satin finishes as well. GWash is a gel formula that produces a lot of foam to lift dirt and oils from the painted surfaces, minimizing surface abrasions and maximizing gloss retention.

GWash is concentrated and it starts at $10.95 for a 250ml bottle. Two capfuls of GWash added to a washing bucket is all you need to produce amazing results.

Step 2 – W6 Iron Remover

W6 Iron Remover

One of the main detailing issues for Corvette owners is dealing with all the brake dust and iron fallout that can mar your alloy wheels as well as the painted exterior of your car. Iron fallout are hot metal fragments from your brake pad linings and rotors and they can become embedded into the paint making removal without damaging the clear coat or ceramic coating even harder.

GTECHNIQ’s W6 Iron & General Fallout Remover is powerful enough to spray on your Corvette’s painted exterior and wheels to easily dissolve fallout and brake dust. While it’s removing iron fallout and other embedded paint contaminates, it also adds a corrosion inhibitor and additive designed to combat the effects of acid rain. W6 is a thick, gel-like formula that will cling to your vehicle’s wheels and vertical surfaces, and you will actually see any ferrous iron particles it comes into contact with turn purple. You only need to let the product dwell on your Corvette surface for 3-5 minutes before removal.

W6 Iron and General Fallout Remover is available in three sizes and we can appreciate that GTECHNIQ offers it on their online store starting at $9.95 for a 250-ml bottle so you can effectively try out the product first without having to spend a lot. It’s also available in 500 ml and 5-liter bulk packages as well.

Step 3 – W5 All Purpose Cleaner

W5 All Purpose Cleaner

GTECHNIQ’s W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner is one of our favorites from GTECHNIQ as it can be used just about anywhere on your Corvette, from the exterior, to the interior, and even under the hood. Of course, it goes without being said that W5 Citrus can also work wonders on wheels and brake calipers, freeing up grime and giving your wheels one last go-over before prepping them for wheel and tire coatings.

W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner is biodegradable and can be used straight out of the bottle for heavy cleaning, but generally you’ll mix it 5 parts to 1 with water for regular cleaning and it will still perform well when mixed 10:1 for light cleaning. W5 Citrus won’t damage coatings, delicate trim or chrome.

W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner is $7.95 for the 500ml spray bottle.

Step 4 – Panel Wipe

Panel Wipe

By now your wheels should be clean, but there is one more step before adding the coating protection and that is GTECHNIQ’s Panel Wipe. Panel Wipe will remove any cleaning and polish residue left on the wheel. It’s a blend of pure alcohols and solvents that once applied will flash off to leave a 100% decontaminated surface area.

PW Panel Wipe is available in three sizes and it starts at $9.95 for the 250ml spray bottle.

Step 5 – C5 Wheel Armour

C5 Wheel Armor

GTECHNIQ’s C5 Wheel Armour is a specialty coating designed to protect your wheels and keep them easy to clean. C5 Wheel Armour features an exceptionally fine surface rheology that creates a chemical bond with the wheel that makes it very hard for dirt, stains, and brake dust to adhere to the wheel’s surface. The C5 wheel coating will maintain its integrity with temperatures of over 1100 degrees Fahrenheit, so it’s also suitable for coating your brake calipers and exhaust tips as well.

C5 Wheel Armour is easy to apply, but for best results, consider removing each wheel first to give it a proper cleaning and prep before applying the C5 Wheel Armour to the rims. With the wheels off the car, it makes it much easier to fully coat the inside barrel of the wheel as well as coating your brake calipers.

You’ll want to allow at least 12 hours of curing time indoors before exposing the coated wheels to the elements. C5 Wheel Armour will protect your wheels for up to two years, making your rims and calipers easy to clean and maintain.

C5 Wheel Armour comes in two sizes and we recommend the larger 30ml bottle priced at $57.95 for vehicles with wheel sizes greater than 17-inches. The 15ml bottle is $34.95.

Step 6 – T1 and T2 Tire Dressings

T1 Tyre and Trim

GTECHNIQ’s T1 Tyre and Trim is specially formulated for your tires and black trim pieces, and will keep them looking black and spotless as it repels water. One coat of T1 will leave a natural satin finish while multiple coats will give you a high-gloss finish. T1 Durable Tyre Gell starts at $19.95 for a 250ml bottle.

The T2 Tyre Dressing is 100% biodegradable and its “no slung” formula will ensure that it doesn’t end up on your Corvette’s bodywork while driving. T2 Tyre Dressing is applied with an AP3 Dual Layered Soft Foam Applicator Pad and simply spread evenly over the tire and then remove any excess with a MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Buff Cloth. T2 Tyre Dressing is $6.95 for a 250ml bottle.

The kit contains GTECHNIQ’s best-selling C5 Wheel Armour specifically designed with protection that lasts up to two years, and because it retains its integrity with temperatures up to 1,112-degrees, it’s the coating for protecting your alloy wheels, calipers, and exhaust tips. Three MF1 ZeroR Microfiber Buff Cloths are also included.

The Wheel Coating Kit from GTECHNIQ is $64.95 and we would recommend also adding a bottle of W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner for cleaning and prepping the wheels prior to coating them with the C5 Wheel Armour.
