This 1960 Corvette will have a new owner come Tuesday, based on its “no reserve” status on an eBay auction out of Miami Beach, Florida.
While photos can be deceiving, this Roman Red with white coves convertible appears to be in decent shape, decent enough in fact that right now 63 bids have already pushed that “no reserve” offer to a high of $35,500.
Perhaps the biggest question mark about this car might be its engine, which doesn’t run and lacks essential parts like the fan, exhaust manifolds, radiator, and wiring harness but does include an upgraded intake and carburetor. The listing notes that the car does roll and steer but we’re not told if the engine turns.
The body, meanwhile, seems to be in good repair, with shiny paint and no glaring cosmetic problems, but we don’t know the condition of the frame underneath – a situation that would require further inspection by a cautious buyer. The bumpers also are in dire need of replating.
The highlight of the car appears to be its red interior, with the seat covers, carpet, and dash all in good cosmetic condition. Even though a few parts are still missing, things like handles and a radio are easily found.
The 1960 model year marked the first time Corvette sales climbed past 10,000, with 10,261 leaving the St. Louis factory. This one isn’t perfect these days, but it does appear to be well on its way to surviving several more decades. Will it be rolling into your garage next week?
