[ACCIDENT] Driver of C4 Corvette in Serious Condition After Cape Cod Crash

Smashing into a tree with your C4 Corvette is not the kind of Saturday night a driver anticipates.

But that’s what happened around 7 p.m. Saturday in the small Massachusetts town of Cotuit.

Police say the Corvette crashed into a tree on Santuit-Newtown Road between Route 28 and Wakeby Road, leaving the driver with “potentially life-threatening” injuries. He was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment, according to capecod.com.

Photos from the scene show the early C4 Corvette turned into a mangled mess as it is being loaded onto a rollback, with the passenger door dangling open toward the front tire, the rear bumper lying upside down nearby, and the windshield smashed all the way across. All that remains of the rear structure are the structural parts normally hidden by the body panels.

Barnstable Police asked for a crash reconstruction as part of the investigation and says the road had to be closed to traffic until the scene could be cleaned up.
