[VIDEO] Watch GM’s 2023 Super Bowl Ad Featuring Will Ferrell and Your Favorite Netflix Shows

General Motors booked a sixty-second television ad for this weekend’s Super Bowl, and it features the automaker joining forces with Netflix to give electric vehicles more screentime on popular Netflix shows. The spot will air during the second quarter of Sunday’s game.

The commercial is called “Why Not an EV?” and it features the return of Will Ferrell who has previous shilled EVs during the Super Bowl for GM. This commercial finds Ferrell and various GM EVs inserted into several of Netflix’s favorite shows.

General Motors is hoping the Netflix partnership will result in more EVs playing their parts on popular Netflix shows. As part of the “product placement” partnership, Netflix will be featuring at least one EV in every movie or series it produces. Both GM and Netflix say there are no dollars being traded for the placement of GM’s electric vehicles into the shows.

In this latest Super Bowl commercial, Will Ferrell finds himself in several Netflix shows:

• Army of the Dead – GMC Sierra Denali EV
• Squid Game – Chevy Blazer EV
• Bridgerton – Cadillac Lyriq
• Stranger Things – Chevrolet Silverado EV (Trail Boss!)
• Love is Blind/Queer Eye – GMC Hummer EV

“Entertainment has a huge impact on culture. We want to make EVs famous on streaming, small and silver screens to build an EV culture through storytelling that incorporates the experiences of driving and owning an EV,” said GM Global Chief Marketing Officer Deborah Wahl. “Netflix is a great partner because of the company’s compelling storytelling, commitment to sustainability and track record of sparking conversations that shape cultural trends. We are united in creating a better, more sustainable future for our world as we bring everybody in on EVs.”
