There’s some debate about whether this is a genuine Greenwood Corvette from the ’70s.
Even if that’s not the case, though, this 1978 Corvette widebody will definitely draw attention with its radical modifications.
The owner bills it as a “75th Anniversary Corvette” – which is impossible since we’re just now celebrating the 70th year of production of America’s Sports Car. Maybe he meant to type a 25th Anniversary Corvette since Chevy was observing the silver anniversary that year.
Anyway, he’s offering this one on Craigslist out of the Baltimore, Maryland area for $15,900 – which doesn’t seem unreasonable since a conversion like this would be a lot more expensive to do these days than that.
Genuine Greenwoods back in the day included a turbocharged small block, but this one has a 350 bored out to .030 over and a 700R automatic transmission. “The engine runs smooth as sewing machine,” the seller claims, “but has a great strong sound.”
We also usually think of Greenwoods in their patriotic red, white and blue paint scheme, but this one features Sport Cardinal Red on the exterior and a cream leather interior. It’s also been updated with new interior plastics, according to the listing, and the body and frame are described as “solid” and “very clean.”
The owner says he’s never seen one of these cars on the road, just one at the Carlisle show. He describes it as “very cool and different without being gawdy,” adding that even the wing is “beautiful but low key.”

75th Anniversary Corvette – LOL, but I can dig it. I’ve always got into widebody C3s as long as they’re not too over the top. This one looks just right and I like the color combo.
