[VIDEO] The Stradman’s 2023 Corvette Z06 Just Dumped Fluids on the Garage Floor

1. Something tells me he won’t be receiving a Christmas card from GM… Or, another VIP opportunity. 😵‍💫

2. With thousands of people waiting for their Z was it really necessary to move him to the head of the line? Already thousands of non famous loyal corvette owners waiting in line. Me an owner of many over the last 45 years and sitting at 2738 on Ciocca’s list.

3. Spot on @Bill. I’m actually pretty appalled at how, despite all of us “small people” waiting patiently, that GM insists on giving front of line priviledges to “influencers” and other celebrities. This car does not need any advertising like that with the current demand. Sorry to hear about your wait.

   This said, I have a hard time believing his claim that he hasn’t done anything the car yet and that this isn’t his fault. These kinds of things do not happen at 949 miles, and in fact don’t really happen at all unless you punish the machine, especially during a break-in period. I can be wrong on this, and yes, there are outlier events that do happen, but developmental test typically ID’s these issues and rectifies them. There are prescribed break in periods for a reason.

4. Bill I am sure it is about the advertising GM gets from the YouTubers. I’m sitting at a very high number on the same list also. 🙂

5. Is GM really hurting that bad for attention? I just wasted 13 minutes that I will never get back.

6. From November 2022 GM TAC:

   2020-2023 Corvette Fluid Leak from the Bell Housing Area.

   The leak will have the appearance of either red transmission fluid or engine oil. When touching the fluid, it will have a sticky, thick or viscous feeling and will not feel like oil or transmission fluid.Review the photos below to see how the fluid can appear to be red, golden brown or yellowish clear depending on the light.

   The fluid may appear to be a transmission leak or possibly a rear main seal, However, the leak is coming from the flywheel and the current cause of the leak is under investigation. In the interim,replace the flywheel and clean the area. Also replace the rear main seal as there have been instances where the grease/fluid appears to degrade or soften the seal.

   If the cause or location of the leak cannot be determined, add dye to the engine oil and check the possible leak locations.

   Note: It is possible that when inspecting the flywheel bolts that the paint marks or the Loctite to fluoresce when using a black light. Use care to not confuse the two.

7. GM angers their waiting customers by letting these influencer tools ditch in line (presumably for good PR they didn’t need) then said internet fools beat their cars to death for clicks, the car breaks and GM looks like they make junk. It’s like the perfect circle of stupidity.

9. I don’t understand the need for Chevrolet to advertise through YT influencers. I’ve read that there are over 10,000 customers on Z06 waiting lists across the globe…. I’m one of them. I’d humbly suggest GM reevaluate their current criteria who receives future C8 iterations, e.g., ERay, ZR1, Zora. For all that it’s worth, this was not a positive reflection of the Corvette brand. Bad Optics! But this YouTuber clearly could care lesss…as long as he gets his “likes.” Thankless.

10. I picked up my 2023 C8 right after Labor Day and at 1,000 miles I got stranded where it wouldn’t start. Waited all day to get it towed and ended up with GM replacing the computer. Anybody else with this issue?? Love the car but that was a big surprise!!

11. I watched the video of Stradman taking possession of this Z06. It seemed he was “pushing” it right away. It seems to me that those who anxiously wait for the next video by some of these “influencers” are living vicariously through them and will not likely ever own any of these cars. Does this really benefit GM? They don’t need to promote the Z06…those 1000’s waiting with deposits do not need to see a barely grateful recipient rocketing around town to convince them that they should stay in line hoping they can get one before production stops years from now. Maybe that ZR1 will not find it’s way to The Stradman so early.

12. WHO IN THE HELL is this non stop freaked out annoying Mouthy lil shit to begin with?? Saw ten seconds of him and wanted to tape his jibbery big mouth shut.

13. Jackass! I love my M7 with a third pedal. Lot of these Generation X,Y, Z, or Q probably do not know how to drive a manual.

14. Since the car was sold with in the first six months, I believe he’s not covered under warranty, unless they give special treatment to the Youtubers! 🤣

15. Do we know that GM bumped him ahead in line? I believe some of these YouTubers put money down early and also tried dealer after dealer until they found one with an allocation that wasn’t in the far future. These guys are making lots of money off of their youtube channels and this purchase is a necessary investment for them, meaning they were likely willing to put a lot of money down and pay a premium to get bumped up by dealers.

    Just saying, unless you know for sure it is GM, there are other ways these YouTubers could have gotten ahead of you or I. I certainly wasn’t going to spend weeks of time tracking down the shortest dealer allocation list, and I was t going to put $5K non-refundable down and pay a $50K markup like some dealers were requiring even to get on the list.

    Maybe GM bumped them, maybe they didn’t.

    At any rate, despite the car being awesome, it’s mostly lost its appeal to me. Corvettes were great partly because they matched or beat much more expensive sports cars. With the Z06 that aspect is entirely lost.

16. Stradman did not follow break in procedures. He drove it extra hard right off the bat. Also, he had the car shipped. Other people had access to the car. GM quit shipping Corvettes in Texas and other places because railroad personnel abused the cars. Some of the damage was deliberate and I doubt his car received tender loving care.
